There is no splitting the top two chances in the 2012 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) market which will take place at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
Caulfield Cup runner-up Green Moon and Cox Plate placegetter Rekindled Interest are both being offered at $3.60 by bookmaker.com.au for Saturday’s Melbourne feature.
Rekindled Interest did not make an impact when 10th in the Group 2 Memsie Stakes two weeks ago but won this event last year and is at his best at Moonee Valley.
“He loves this track, everyone knows that,” trainer Jim Conlan said this week.
“Every time he comes here he runs well and I’m pretty sure he’ll run well on Saturday.”
Green Moon also returned in the Memse to finish fifth and will be having his first race at Moonee Valley this weekend.
Following the pair in the betting is Memsie Stakes runner-up Happy Trails ($7.50) who ran an excellent race behind winner Sincero.
Trainer Paul Beshara has stated the five-year-old is on trial for a start in the Cox Plate and how he performs at Moonee Valley this weekend will determine whether his target lies there or in the Caulfield Cup.
Two other horses fall under double figures in the Dato’ Tan Chin Nam market and they are the Mick Price-trained Heart Of Dreams ($8.50) and the Melbourne Cup-nominated Linton ($9.50).
Heart Of Dreams is a dual Group 1 winner but hasn’t won since February last year while Linton was last seen winning the Group 3 Lee Stakes at Morphetville in May.
Other runners in Saturday’s Moonee Valley feature include Australian Derby winner Ethiopia ($17.00) and one-time Melbourne Cup fancy Alcopop ($19.00).
