Rekindled Interest On Track For Cox Plate 2012 Success

Trainer Jim Conlan is confident that Rekindled Interest can put an end to his losing streak with a win at Moonee Valley Racecourse this Saturday.

The Redoute’s Choice gelding will be looking to bounce back from a tenth placing in the Group 2 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield Racecourse last start.

The five-year-old is known for his impressive performances at Moonee Valley racecourse, where he placed third in the Group 1 Cox Plate last spring.

Rekindled Interest

Rekindled Interest will continue his 2012 Cox Plate campaign in the Group 2 Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley this weekend.

Rekindled Interest will continue his love affair with the Melbourne track when he runs in the Group 2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes this weekend.

Conlan is positive the public will see Rekindled Interest near his best in the race.

“He loves this track, everyone knows that,” Conlan said.

“Every time he comes here he runs well and I’m pretty sure he’ll run well on Saturday.”

Rekindled Interest will be ridden by new jockey Damien Oliver in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes 2012, after being ridden by Dwayne Dunn in the majority of his previous race starts.

A track gallop at Moonee Valley this morning was enough for Oliver to declare his loyalty to the talented galloper throughout the spring.

“After that I’d be happy to stick with him all spring,” Oliver said.

Rekindled Interest is currently on track to contest the Cox Plate once again in 2012, where he will look to go two places better.

Conlan has revealed the gelding is just as forward as he was at this time last year.

“He’s pretty much the same, I’d just like to see him tighten up and I think today’s gallop will do that,” he said.

The trainer expects Rekindled Interest to be wearing blinkers in the 2012 Cox Plate on Saturday October 27, 2012.

“After he’s had one 2000-metre race, which he’ll probably have between Saturday and the Cox Plate, he just loses a little bit of his zip so I put the blinkers on after that,” Conlan said.

Rekindled Interest has won three of his 17 race starts and has earned more than $860,000 in prize money.
