Shamexpress Only Additional 2012 Golden Rose Nomination

Danny O’Brien-trained colt Shamexpress is the only late nomination for Saturday’s Group 1 2012 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill.

Nechita

Nechita will start as favourite in the 2012 Golden Rose

Connections of the promising youngster elected to pay the $50,000 late entry fee for the $1 million three-year-old feature after an impressive third-place performance in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes at Caulfield on September 1.

Thirteen horses remained in Golden Rose contention this morning following the announcement of nominations and with Pierro headed to Melbourne, Patinack Farm have the two headline acts.

Nechita is the favourite to win the first Group 1 race of the season and will be joined on Saturday by much-hyped colt All Too Hard.

Nechita won by 3 1/2 lengths on debut at Warwick Farm in June before scoring a two-length victory first-up in the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes last month.

All Too Hard was one of the most anticipated runners of the spring but much of the gloss was taken away after he failed to fire in his first two starts of the spring.

The half-brother to Black Caviar finished three lengths behind Snitzerland when third in the San Domenico Stakes and struggled when fifth in a six horse field in the Group 3 Run To The Rose.

With Pierro not starting, Kabyan will fly the flag for the Waterhouse stable and showed he was a handy replacement when finishing second in the McNeil Stakes.

Darley will have two runners in the Golden Rose with Peter Snowden choosing to enter both Epaulette and Up And Coming Stakes winner Albrecht.

Anthony Cummings has two entered runners with Ninth Legion and Your Song whil leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller will be represented by Jade Marauder.

Other horses included in Golden Rose nominations are Amorino and Doubtfilly.
