We’re Gonna Rock Wins 2012 Bobbie Lewis Quality

Mark Kavanagh-trained gelding We’re Gonna Rock signalled his potential for bigger sprints this year when winning the Group 3 2012 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington.

We're Gonna Rock on their way to winning the Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality 2012

The six-year-old, who was previously seen running second to Black Caviar in the Goodwood in May, hit the line strongly to win by a long neck ahead of Spirit Of Boom and Title.

After showing promise as a youngster, the son of Fastnet Rock had to be gelded following a disappointing one-start autumn campaign last year and he has responded impressively.

Kavanagh attributed the gelding operation to his successful autumn campaign and hinted he could feature in some the Group 1 sprints this spring.

“He was just a massive horse and he was just too big for his knees and joints,” Kavanagh said.

“There is a lot of improvement in him today and there isn’t a Black Caviar this spring.”

Jockey Michael Rodd also said the gelding operation had greatly improved the six-year-old who has now won five of 15 starts.

“He’s a lot lighter on his feet, since they cut him he’s lost a lot of weight. He’s light all over so he’s feeling a lot better,” Rodd said.

“We know he’s got class and it’s just good to see him win a race.

“He ran second to Black Caviar and he’s shown that he is good at running a place but it’s just good to get him out there today in a quality field and win like that.”

There are a lot of serious spring contenders to come out of this race so to back them at great odds as they move forward you have to be betting at bookmaker.com.au.

The Australian-owned bookie offers a $400 bonus bet offer and a wide range of products to suit all your racing needs.
