Makybe Diva Stakes 2012 Form Guide & Betting Preview

A field bursting with spring superstars will line up in Saturday’s 2012 Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington Racecourse and to help you back the winner below we have the Races.com.au’s exclusive Makybe Diva Stakes form guide and betting preview.

Second Effort

Second Effort is the only horse coming into the 2012 Makybe Diva Stakes this year via the Lawrence Stakes

Due to jump at 3:35pm as Flemington Race 6 the $300,000 Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) features 12 weight-for-age champs the favourite of which is Peter Moody’s autumn champ Manighar ($3.30).

Manighar resumes racing for the season and has an ambitious spring ahead with all the majors being considered including their third shot at the world famous Melbourne Cup on the first Tuesday of November.

The triple Group 1 winning import is followed closely in the Makybe Diva Stakes odds at bookmaker.com.au by last year’s Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed ($3.40) who looks to have the fitness edge on Saturday after two runs this time in back home in South Australia.

The other top fancies are then Doomben Cup winner Mawingo ($5) and the returning December Draw ($8) who runs for the first time since breaking down and finishing dead last as the defeated favourite in last spring’s Caulfield Cup.

These are the horses the bookies are banking on, but is there a longer priced hopeful in the mix that can claim an upset in the early Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival feature?

Before you place your bets check out the must know info we have gathered below after studying the Makybe Diva Stakes field, form guide and betting history.
