Furious Stakes 2012 Odds – No Clear Favourite

This Princess Series for three-year-old fillies continues this weekend at Warwick Farm with the 2012 Furious Stakes and it promises to be an exciting affair.

Dear Demi

Dear Demi is one of many chances in Saturday's Furious Stakes

The market is currently wide open with Silver Shadow Stakes placegetters Meidung and Dear Demi currently sharing favouritism at $5.00 with bookmaker.com.au.

The talented pair finished behind boom filly Nechita in the first event of the Princess Series and one could get their chance to finish on top this weekend.

Dear Demi is being targeted at the VRC Oaks and while trainer Clarry Connors admits she is more suited to a longer trip he expects her to perform throughout the Princess Series.

“Her main aim is Melbourne with the Oaks but these races coming up now, the Furious, the Tea Rose and the Flight in Sydney are really nice races for a filly like her,” Connors said.

The Darley-owned Meidung is a consistent performer and from five career starts has only missed a place on one occasion.

Highlighting the openness of the contest is that five other horses fall under double figures.

Chris Waller’s Jade Marauder ($6.50) will be out to improve on her Silver Shadow Stakes fifth-place effort as will the sixth placed Flying Snitzel ($7.50).

Behind that pair are Roll The Bones, Villa Splendido and Doubtfilly who are all being offered at $8.00.

Doubtfilly, who finished fourth in the Golden Slipper, will be having the second start of her spring campaign after kicking off with a close runner-up in Brisbane a fortnight ago.

The lightly-raced Villa Splendido joins Flying Snitzel as one of two Gerald Ryan-trained entrants while Roll The Bones impressed last month with a one-length win at Canterbury.
