Quality 2012 Furious Stakes Field Announced

Patinack filly Nechita may have bypassed the Group 2 2012 Furious Stakes (1400m) in favour of the Golden Rose but that doesn’t mean the fillies’ feature is lacking quality.

Doubtfilly will be on trial for a Golden Rose start in the Furious Stakes on Saturday

Twelve horses were this morning named in the final field for second race of the Princess Series including Golden Slipper fourth placegetter Doubtfilly.

The Queensland youngster is on trial for a start in the Golden Rose with a good performance on Saturday likely to see trainer Stuart Kendrick enter her in the $1 million event.

The daughter of Not A Single Doubt made her first start as a three-year-old in Brisbane on August 25 where, after starting keenly, she fought on bravely to finish a narrow second to impressive debutant Grayson Square.

Joining Doubtfilly in the Furious Stakes in good form are Silver Shadow Stakes placegetters Meidung and Dear Demi.

The pair finished behind Nechita in the opening race of the Princess Series which provides a good form line.

Dear Demi is being targeted towards the VRC Oaks in Melbourne and will appreciate the extra 200 metres provided this weekend.

Having their first start in Australia is Pussy Willow who won her first two starts in New Zealand before running fourth on a heavy track to open her spring campaign.

Trainer Stephen McKee is confident the horse is in good order but expressed reservations about the short straight at Warwick Farm given her swooping running style.

With Nechita headed straight to the Golden Rose, Roll The Bones will be the lone entrant for Patinack.

Nominated for both the Spring Champion Stakes and the Thousand Guineas, the daughter of Red Ransom got her campaign off to a flyer with a one-length win at Canterbury last month in what was just the second start of her career.

Furious Stakes markets will open shortly and sensational odds will be found at bookmaker.com.au.

Bet at the Aussie-owned bookie to score a $400 bonus bet upon joining which can be split up to four ways!
