Snitzerland Out for More Success in 2012 Danehill Stakes

Snitzerland will get the opportunity to further cement her position as one of the best three-year-old sprinters in the country this weekend when she contests the Group 2 2012 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.

Snitzerland heads to Melbourne to chase success in the Danehill Stakes

The Golden Slipper runner-up showed she would not be a failed three-year-old earlier this month when leading from start to finish to win the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m).

There is no reason why that success can’t continue and the daughter of Snitzel will start as a clear favourite on Saturday.

The talented sprinter has received a handicap rating of 102 for the $220,000 event which is 18 points more than her nearest rival.

It will the be the second trip to Melbourne for the Gerald Ryan-trained sprinter who began her career with a runner-up finish down the Flemington straight before later winning the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes by three lengths.

Ryan will not be tempted to test Snitzerland in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas and will instead keep her to a sprints campaign that will culminate with the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) in November.

Ryan will also saddle up Ahdashim in the Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) and highlighted the pair’s ability on the straight as a key reason for sending them south to Melbourne.

“Snitzerland has had two starts on it for a second and a first and Ahdashim has had three goes for two wins,” Ryan said.

Ahdashim has not raced since winning at Rosehill last October but has been tuned up with three barrier trials ahead of his spring campaign.

The seven-year-old gelding has won seven times from 30 career starts and collected over $500,000 in prizemoney.
