Mosheen Returns in 2012 Bobbie Lewis Quality – Nominations

Cox Plate hope Mosheen looks set to make her return from a throat operation this weekend after being nominated for the Group 3 2012 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington.

Mosheen

Mosheen is likely to return in Saturday's Bobbie Lewis Quality

The Robert Smerdon-trained mare is nominated for both the Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup and will be racing for the first time since her stunning autumn campaign if she lines up on Saturday.

A daughter of leading sire Fastnet Rock, Mosheen completed a Group 1 treble in the autumn when winning the Australian Guineas, Randwick Guineas and Vinery Stud Stakes.

But she will have no easy task first-up with a high quality list of nominations announced today for the $150,000 sprint.

Among the 23 horses entered is Shanghai Warrior who announced himself as a spring carnival contender in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap when galloping clear win by a length ahead of the highly-rated Golden Archer.

Trained by Pat Hyland, Shanghai Warrior has won four of nine starts and will be chasing a third consecutive victory if he starts on Saturday.

Joe Pride-trained sprinter Title will avoid a clash with stablemates Rain Affair and Tiger Tees in Sydney and will be looking to punce in Melbourne after two promising lead-up runs.

The six-year-old finished fourth to Pinwheel first-up in the Group 3 Missile Stakes before claiming runner-up honours behind Moment Of Change in the Listed Show County Quality.

Stepping out Jason Warren will be the in-form Freereturn who will be chasing a third straight victory after claiming a stakes win in the Regal Roller at Caulfield on August 18.

Other horses nominated include Queensland gelding Spirit Of Boom and Doncaster Prelude runner-up Speediness.

The Bobbie Lewis Quality is just one of a number of exciting betting races at Cauflield this weekend and the best odds will be found later this week at bookmaker.com.au.

The Races.com.au preferred bookie is currently offering a $400 bonus bet offer which can be split four ways to maximise your spring betting!
