Nechita Heads 2012 Silver Shadow Stakes Field

With She’s A Fox ruled out of the spring, Patinack’s promising three-year-old Nechita heads a strong group of fillies named to line up in Saturday’s Group 3 2012 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm.

Despite having had just one career start, Patinack have labelled her one of their most likely Group 1 contenders this spring.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock debuted at Warwick Farm in June and she showed obvious potential with a 3 1/2 length win ahead of Diamond Earth.

Speaking yesterday, trainer John Thompson said the promising youngster had filled out during a brief spell in the paddock and he is expecting a good first-up performance.

“She’s done well. She only had three and a bit weeks out in the paddock,” Thompson said.

“She’s filled out a bit…she looks good, we’re happy with her.”

Returning for her first start of the spring after impressing in the autumn is the Allan Denham-trained Ichihara who will run from the inside barrier with Brenton Avdulla on board.

The General Nediym filly won the first three starts of her career including the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes before finishing third in the Kindergarten Stakes.

The filly with the most experience in the race is Dear Demi who has won twice from eight career starts.

Trained by Clarry Connors, the daughter of Dehere finished off her autumn campaign in impressive fashion when winning the Listed Fernhill Quality and finishing runner-up to Pierro in the Champagne Stakes.

Rosehill trainer Gerald Ryan has two entrants in Flying Snitzel and Cavalry Rose while Single Style will step out for Gary Portelli.

Single Style has had just three career starts but has won twice including in the Listed Keith Mackay Quality ahead of Driefontein in April.
