PB Lawrence Stakes 2012 – Betting Tips

The anticipation of the spring is building and a high quality eight-race card will take place at Caulfield tomorrow headlined by the Group 2 2012 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m).

Ready To Rip

Ready To Rip is the Races.com.au tip to win the PB Lawrence Stakes

Despite an expected wet track, a strong 13-horse field will contest the $220,000 event with Perth star Luckygray currently heading the bookmaker.com.au market at $3.10.

Following the Group 1 winner in the market are Peter Moody-trained gelding Ready To Rip ($4.40) and Cox Plate placegetter Rekindled Interest ($6.50).

Also near the top end of PB Lawrence Stakes betting are dual Group 1 winner Heart Of Dreams ($7.50) and consistent gelding Zamorar ($10.00).

Not sure who to back in this exciting Group 2 race? Don’t worry, the hard work has been done for you by the Races.com.au experts who are here to deliver our very best selections.

The Winner

#6 Ready To Rip $4.40

This Moody-trained five-year-old may not have the Group 1 credentials of a number of his rivals but he has plenty in his favour.

The son of More Than Ready has won two races from two starts at stakes level since joining Moody’s stable from Queensland and faces a number of horses who are resuming first-up.

Was very strong winning the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes last start and is a proven wet-track performer unlike a number of his key rivals who are either untried or struggle in wet conditions.

The Placings

#3 Luckygray $3.10 and #11 Zamorar $10.00

Luckygray is unproven in the wet but he is a class galloper who has been unstoppable in the west throughout the winter.

After taking out the Group 1 Railway Stakes last summer, he returned this winter in terrific form to win a treble in the Group 3 Roma Cup, Belmont Sprint and Hyperion Stakes.

Zamorar may not have a stakes victory to his name but the Seymour-based gelding has been ultra consistent this winter and there is no reason that can’t continue.

The four-year-old has finished in the top three in his last six starts with all those results coming on tracks rated slow or worse.
