Star colt All Too Hard heads nominations for Saturday’s Group 3 $125,000 2012 San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
The much-hyped half-brother to Black Caviar will make his return this weekend but whether it is the San Domenico is still to be decided as he is also nominated for the Listed Starlight Stakes.
A move to the Starlight Stakes would see him face open competition but would have him allocated a far lighter weight than against his own age group in the three-year-old feature.
Trained by John Hawkes and sons Michael and Wayne, All Too Hard trialled impressively earlier this month after bursting on to the scene during the autumn.
The talented colt had three dominant wins to open his career before finishing runner-up to Pierro on Group 1 debut in the Sires’ Produce Stakes.
One horse that is almost a definite starter in the three-year-old event is Golden Slipper runner-up Snitzerland who will use the race as the first of a five-event spring campaign culminating in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington in November.
Fellow filly Driefontein also starred as a juvenile and the daughter of Fasnet Rock is nominated to return this weekend.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse, Driefontein won the first four starts of her career including the Magic Millions 2YO Classic before finishing sixth in the Golden Slipper.
Also nominated is Anthony Cummings-trained colt Ninth Legion who is being aimed at the Golden Rose after showing plenty of promise early in his career.
The son of Fastnet Rock won the first two starts of his career before running fifth to Sizzling in the Group 1 TJ Smith at the Brisbane Winter Carnival
Other nominated horses include the David Pfieffer’s Nediym’s Quest and John O’Shea’s Don’t Blink.
