Sherocksmyworld Late 2012 The Rosbud Nomination

Gai Waterhouse has made a late entry for this Saturday’s The Rosebud 2012 at Warwick Farm taking advantage of the extended nominations with her young filly Sherocksmyworld.

Originally just 12 three-year-olds were entered for this year’s edition of the $100,000 Listed The Rosebud (1200m) which is an early catalyst for horses heading towards the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday September 15, 2012.

Racing NSW however kept the nominations open until 11am (local time) today in a bid to attract more hopefuls to the black type feature.

Waterhouse was without an entry in The Rosebud prior to her late nomination of Sherocksmyworld, the daughter of Fastnet Rock having won two of her six career starts to date.

After a narrow victory over 1100m in the mud at Rosehill on July 7 the $200,000 yearling was last seen finishing four lengths away second to Anthony Cummings’ boom filly She’s A Fox in the Optus Sprint (1100m) at Warwick Farm on July 28.

She’s A Fox is now one of the top fancies in the futures Golden Rose odds at paying $15 and is also set to run next-up in The Rosebud.

Dually nominated for Saturday’s Warwick Farm meeting having also been entered for the $125,000 Group 3 Missile Stakes (1200m), She’s A Fox has since been confirmed to race against her own age with Hugh Bowman booked to ride her in The Rosebud.

Sherocksmyworld meanwhile is a $251 roughie in the Golden Rose betting markets and is unlikely to go towards the new season’s maiden Group 1 event.

Waterhouse is also still deciding whether to go the Golden Rose path with the current $3.50 favourite Pierro, the undefeated Golden Slipper winner more likely to be saved for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival majors including the $3 million Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 27 – nominations for which are due out this afternoon.

See below for the updated 2012 The Rosebud nominations with weights for the quality handicap showdown to be released shortly.
