Tattersall’s Mile 2012 – Betting Tips

As the only black-type event on the east coast this weekend, the Listed $80,000 2012 Tattersall’s Mile (1600m) is sure to attract plenty of interest from punters across the country.

Belltone will be tough to beat in the Tattersall's Mile

A quality 12-horse field has been named to contest the Eagle Farm feature and the in-form Belltone currently heads the bookmaker.com.au market at $2.40.

Battling it out for second spot in Tattersall’s Mile betting are Adnocon ($4.20) and Carry Me Bluey ($4.50) who are both coming off last-start victories.

No other runner comes under double figures with Pepperwood ($13.00), Topping ($14.00) and Falino ($19.00) the next best chances according to the bookies.

No idea who to back in this Brisbane feature? Don’t worry, the Races.com.au team have been hard at work analysing the form to bring you our very best betting selections.

The Winner

#1 Belltone $2.40

Belltone was the 100th winning ride for Chris Munce for the season last start when he dominated the Glasshouse Handicap.

He may have a wide barrier (12) and be stepping up to the mile for the first time but Munce says both factors are non-issues for Belltone and it is hard to argue with the man who has ridden him in his last three starts.

Chasing a third black-type victory here, the topweight of 59kg presents the biggest query but his form suggests he is the class horse in the race and the winning streak should continue.

The Placings

#4 Carry Me Bluey $4.50 and #5 Pepperwood $13.00

Carry Me Bluey showed promise with two fourth-place efforts at the Brisbane Winter Carnival and really hit his straps last start when winning the South Grafton Cup.

The Toowoomba gelding gets in well at the weights with 55.5kg and has drawn the plum barrier six position.

With the Eagle Farm track currently rated as heavy and unlikely to be better than slow by tomorrow, Pepperwood comes into consideration.

The seven-year-old gelding showed her wet-track ability earlier this winter when winning the Listed Spear Chief Handicap by more than a length at Eagle Farm.
