Doubtfilly Could Tackle 2012 Golden Rose

Golden Slipper fourh place-getter Doubtfilly could be headed towards the Group 1 2012 Golden Rose (1400m) depending how she fares in a first-up test in the Silver Shadow Stakes at Rosehill next month.

Doubtfilly could take on the likes of Golden Slipper winner Pierro (pictured) in the Golden Rose

Trained by Stuart Kendrick in Mackay, the talented youngster has impressed in trackwork since resuming following a winter spell and has been confirmed for a southern spring campaign.

If the rising three-year-old fails to prove herself a Golden Rose contender, Kendrick said she would likely contest the remaining races of the Princess Series that begin with the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) on August 25.

“If she came out and performed exceptionally well…well obviously we’ll give the Golden Rose some consideration,” he said.

“Otherwise there’s the option of that Princess Series or Fillies Series working through there.”

If the daughter of Not A Single Doubt does gain a start in the $1 million Golden Rose on September 15, it is likely she will come up against the stars she finished behind in the Golden Slipper including Pierro, Snitzerland and Samaready as well as boom colt All Too Hard.

Bought for just $17,500, Doubtfilly comes from a far different background to the high profile youngsters but has been impressive in her young career.

The exciting filly rewarded her trainer’s faith who paid a $150,000 late entry fee to the Golden Slipper, bringing home $190,000 for her fourth-place finish.

From eight career starts, Doubtfilly has record four victories and collected $430,000 in prize money.

Kendrick is confident the success can continue as a three-year-old after the youngster returned from a spell in excellent condition.

“She spelled well and she’s come back looking well I’m really happy with her at the moment,” Kendrick said.

“She hasn’t grown a lot but she has thickened out a little bit and strengthened up a bit.”
