A son of Brahms, Belltone has been in excellent form this preparation and is chasing a third consecutive victory at Listed level this weekend.

Currently being offered at $2.40 by bookmaker.com.au, the six-year-old won the Listed Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich early last month and backed it up with a win on a heavy Sunshine Coast track in the Glasshouse Handicap.

But the Brisbane-based gelding will have to overcome a number of obstacles this weekend including the top weight of 59kg and a wide barrier 12 position in his first step up to 1600m.

Next best in the market is veteran Gerald Ryan-trained gelding Adnocon ($4.50) who went within half a length of claiming a third consecutive victory in the Eye Liner Stakes when third to tomorrow’s race favourite.

The good form continued for Adnocon last start when dominating the Listed Ascot Handicap at Eagle Farm by more than a length.

Occupying the third line of betting for Saturday’s Brisbane feature is Toowoomba gelding Carry Me Bluey ($4.50).

After consecutive fourth-place finishes at Listed level at the Brisbane Winter Carnival, the Norm Hilton-trained four-year-old returned to the winners circle last start with an impressive performance in the South Grafton Cup.

No other runner in the Tattersall’s Mile falls under double figures with Pepperwood ($13.00) and Topping ($14.00) the next best pair.

Pepperwood won the Listed Spear Chief Handicap at Eagle Farm last month but will have to bounce back from an eighth-place finish in the Glasshouse Handicap.

Topping is stepping up to Listed level for the first time since last November but the Tony Gollan-trained gelding comes into the race in good form.

The son of Top Echelon produced consecutive seconds from two winter starts in BM80 ad BM90 events at the Gold and Sunshine Coast.

Also named to contest tomorrow’s feature event are Falino ($19.00), Hour Of Peril ($19.00) and former New Zealand Group 1 winner Vonusti ($4.20).
