Belltone Draws Wide in 2012 Tattersall’s Mile

In-form gelding Belltone has drawn the outside barrier for Saturday’s Listed $80,000 2012 Tattersall’s Mile (1600m) at Eagle Farm.

Belltone has drawn wide in Saturday's Tattersall's Mile

There is no denying the Kelso Wood-trained gelding is the horse to beat but he will have to come overcome the barrier 12 position this weekend as well as the 59kg topweight.

The son of Brahms is chasing a third straight black-type victory after winning the Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich and the Glasshouse Handicap at the Sunshine Coast last month.

Belltone delivered Chris Munce his 100th winning ride for the season in the Glasshouse and the leading Queensland jockey will again be on board this weekend.

Jumping from a slightly more favourable position is Adnocon who will come from barrier nine with Damian Browne in the saddle.

The experienced Gerald Ryan-trained gelding has also been in good form, placing in the Eye Liner Stakes before winning the Listed Ascot Handicap at Eagle Farm last start.

A winner of nine of 47 starts, the son of Clang has won three times at Listed level and collected $550,000 in prize money.

Drawing well in barrier six is Toowoomba gelding Carry Me Bluey who is coming off a win in the South Grafton Cup after consecutive fourth-place finishes at Listed level at the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Trained by Norm Hilton, the talented four-year-old is being considered for a southern spring campaign and his performance on Saturday could determine the kinds of races for which he will be targeted.

Former Group 1 winning New Zealand gelding Vonusti has been named to contest the Brisbane feature but connections will be hoping for a dry track after he struggled in the wet in the Glasshouse Handicap.

Other horses set to line up in the Tattersall’s Mile include recent Listed level winner Pepperwood and John Thompson-trained pair Hour Of Peril and They Won’t Last.
