Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Talented Clarry Connors-trained filly Dear Demi will be targeted at the 2012 Crown Oaks at Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival.
With two wins from eight starts as a two-year-old, the daughter of Dehere signalled she was destined for bigger things, winning the Listed Fernhill Quality (1600m) before finishing second to champion colt Pierro in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes.
Before her tilt at Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival, the promising youngster will take part in the Princess Series for three-year-old fillies in Sydney.
Trainer Connors has been impressed with her during her winter spell and has high hopes she will play a major role this spring.
“She did nicely in her spell. She went to Strawberry Hills and had a nice bit of R and R,” Connors said.
“She’ll probably contest the Princess Series in Sydney and then go to Melbourne for the Oaks.”
Kicking off on August 25 with the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m), the Princess Series also includes the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1400m), the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) and the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m).
The $1 million Crown Oaks (2500m) will take place on the third day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival on November 8.
Joining Dear Demi in Sydney for the Princess Series will be John Thompson-trained filly Nechita who signalled her potential on debut at Warwick Farm last month.
The daughter of Fastnet Rock secured a dominant victory in her only start to date, winning by nearly four lengths in the Ambassador Travel Services Plate at Warwick Farm.
Nechita has resumed under the guidance of the Patinack trainer at Randwick following a short break.
