See The World Tops Winter Stakes 2012 Betting

In-form Joseph Pride-trained sprinter See The World is a slight favourite in the early stages of betting for Saturday’s Listed $100,000 2012 Winter Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm.

See The World

See The World is favourite to win the WInter Stakes at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

The five-year-old gelding is being offered at $3.80 by bookmaker.com.au as he attempts to chase a third consecutive victory just seven days after winning the Westend Mazda BM95 at Rosehill.

A son of Danzero, See The World scored a breakthrough black-type victory in Gosford two starts back when winning the Listed Takeover Target Stakes on June 22.

Following closely in the betting is Queensland gelding Startsmeup ($4.00) who also heads into the race in good form.

The Gillian Heinrich-trained four-year-old is fresh off a win in the Ipswich Dash on June 16 but will have to overcome a wide start after receiving barrier 12.

Stepping up in class but showing plenty of promise is three-year-old filly Embark who occupies the next line of betting at $7.00.

Trained by John Hawkes and sons Michael and Wayne, the rising daughter of Choisir will be racing at Listed level for the first time but has won twice and finished runner-up seven times from her nine most recent starts.

Also starting under double figures are Gai Waterhouse gelding King Lionheart ($8.00) and the Chris Waller-trained Tromso ($9.50).

King Lionheart is a former Group level winner and returns from a spell to carry the topweight of 59kg from the inside barrier.

Offering value for the punters is former Doncaster place-getter Brilliant Light who isa huge outsider at $41.00.

To taste success on Saturday the winner of more than $480,000 in prize money will have to break a horror drought that has seen him unable to score victory since April 2010.

Also set to line up in the Winter Stakes are Glintz ($14.00), Martin Place ($16.00), Onecatstoomany ($16.00) and Irish Dream ($17.00).
