See The World Wins Pride Second Takeover Target Stakes 2012 – Results

Progressive five-year-old See The World posted back-to-back wins in the 2012 Takeover Target Stakes for Warwick Farm trainer Joe Pride at Gosford this afternoon, coming from the back of the field to score victory in a thrilling blanket finish.

The Danzero gelding came off a good fourth to fellow rival Alberton Park in the June Stakes at Rosehill, and showed improvement with a gallant effort to win the $100,000 Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m).

In doing so See The World, who has now won six of their 21 career starts and jumped as a $5 chance, followed in the footsteps of their talented stablemate Title who scored Takeover Target glory 12 months ago.

On the line they had just under a quarter length to spare over gallant runner-up Beyond Pardon ($6) who was right up on the speed throughout having settled fourth after the jump, with Luke Griffith’s improving mare Sutton Queen ($15) crossing for an eye-catching third only a nose further back.

Markets were dominated by June Stakes winner Alberton Park ($2.70) who settled into second early but failed to fire when it mattered eventually finishing two lengths off the winner in sixth.

The pace was set by $41 roughie My Cookie Monster, who faded to finish dead last, who led right up until the turn.

With 200-metres left to travel there were a number of chances stretched across the track but See The World from the back was too good in the end.

In a patient and strong willed ride by jockey Christian Reith, See The World was trailing in the early stages sitting five off the speed.

They were still the widest on the turn but came hard and fast down the outside in a big finish.
