WJ Healy Stakes 2012 Field & Barriers – Tattersall’s Tiara Day

Bringing the Tattersall’s Tiara Day action to a close at Eagle Farm this Saturday is the 2012 WJ Healy Stakes which has drawn a final field of 12 sprinters.

Griffon is one of two last start winners in Saturday's WJ Healy Stakes 2012

Set to run as Eagle Farm Race 8 at 4:22pm the $175,000 Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes (1200m) is one of three Group race features on the program for Saturday, the action headlined by the $500,000 Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) for the fillies and mares at 3:47pm.

There are two last start winners among the WJ Healy Stakes acceptances this year with the Chris Waller-trained Tromso and Rob Heathcote’s local hopeful Griffon.

Lonhro five-year-old Tromso resumed after a 4 and a half month spell at Rosehill on May 26 winning a handicap feature over 1100-metres.

Saturday sees them race in stakes company for just the fourth time, their best result to date being a second to Girl Hussler in the 2010 Daybreak Lover Stakes.

That effort was at Eagle Farm over 1400-metres, and they return to the Brisbane track on Saturday for the first time since.

Griffon also comes off a first-up win, the Flying Spur six-year-old having put an easy one and a half lengths on Royal Bender to take out the Listed Lightning Handicap (1000m) at the track on June 9.

Heathcote will also be represented in the race by Excellantes in barrier eight with Hugh Bowman to ride, the four-year-old Falvelon gelding having won the Listed Chief De Beers (11000m) at Doomben two back before their fifth in the Lightning Handicap.

The Norm Hilton-trained Bold Glance meanwhile resumes racing in the WJ Healy as the 59kg topweight.

The Sequalo six-year-old hasn’t raced since their distant ninth in the Carbine Club Stakes at the Gold Coast in the wet back on Mary 17, a race they won on a Heavy (10) the year before.

Bold Glance is followed in the WJ Healy Stakes weights by Desleigh Forster’s Lightning Handicap fourth placegetter Adebisi (57.5kg) and the Kelly Doughty-trained Carbine Club Stakes winner Tierqualo (57kg).

Other notable hopefuls include the Kelso Wood-trained Seek And Find drawn ideally in barrier two, Barry Baldwin’s Havatryst out to improve on their failure in the Chief De Beers last start, and the Gillian Heinrich-trained Lightning Handicap third placed Audacious Spirit with the inside alley.
