Hoss Amor Tops 2012 Tattersall’s Racing Club Stakes Field

Otherwise known as the Centenary Classic Mercedes-Benz Stakes, the event will test a number of talented two-year-olds with the in-form Hoss Amor set to start as favourite.

The daughter of General Nediym fired first-up in the Listed Hampden Stakes early last month and has since backed it up to finish second in the Listed Phoenix and first in the Lancaster Stakes.

From just five career starts, the Sydney-based youngster has already recorded three victories and collected over $275,000 in prize money.

Second to Hoss Amor in the Lancaster Stakes was Gold Coast filly Sunset Affair who has signalled plenty of potential in just three career starts.

A daughter of Exceed And Excel, the Gillian Heinrich-trained horse finished fourth on debut last year but burst into the winter with a 1 1/2 length victory first-up at the Sunshine Coast.

By far the most experienced horse in the field is Patt Duff-trained gelding Holey Gadoley who has won twice from 12 starts.

Bought for $22,000 at the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, the Monashee Mountain two-year-old has easily paid back his price tag by already collecting $117,000 in prize takings.

After struggling first-up in the Phoenix, Holey Gadoley produced an excellent run last start at Doomben when second to highly-rated Sydney youngster Destruction in the Listed Dalrello Stakes.

Other horses set to start in the Tattersall’s Racing Club Stakes include Robert Heathcote-trained gelding Big Decision and Lancaster Stakes fourth place-getter Caliente.

The Tattersall’s Racing Club Stakes takes place as part of a bumper eight-race card at Eagle Farm that is highlighted by the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara.
