Star five-year-old So You Think will line up in an 11-horse field in Wednesday’s Group 1 2012 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The former Bart Cummings-trained horse has a chance to redeem himself after last year’s shock loss to Rewilding when starting as favourite in the 2000-metre Group 1 event.
Now trained by Aiden O’Brien, the two-time Cox Plate winner will again start as favourite and is coming off a dominant six-length victory in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Gold Cup.
The most likely candidate to upset the son of High Chaparral is lightly-raced four-year-old Carlton House who has won three times from just six career starts.
It is a case of the inexperienced versus the experienced, with So You Think boasting an outstanding record of 13 wins from 22 starts including nine at Group 1 level and a prize pool of more than $6 million.
Carlton House is fresh off a victory in the Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes last start but will claim a first ever Group 1 victory if he can upset So You Think on Wednesday.
So You Think’s stable mate Robin Hood has also been named in the field and it is likely he will play a similar role as he did in his third-placed Tattersall’s Gold Cup effort when he set the pace for So You Think.
Also set to line up in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes is American four-year-old Big Blue Kitten who has five wins from nine career starts.
Other horses included in the field are French Group 1 winner Reliable Man, Godolphin pair Farh and City Style and Dubai World Cup third place-getter Planteur.
