Kinnersley Heads Tattersall’s Cup 2012 Nominations

Last Saturday’s beaten Ipswich Cup favourite Kinnersley could be out to atone this weekend having been nominated for the 2012 Tattersall’s Cup on Eagle Farm’s Tattersall’s Tiara Day.

Kinnersley

Beaten Ipswich Cup favourite Kinnersley has been nominated for the 2012 Tattersall's Cup this Saturday

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Al Maher five-year-old, winner of the Lord Mayor’s Cup two back, was brave in defeat when going down a half length to Shenzhou Steeds in the Listed Ipswich Cup (2150m).

Jockey Chris Munce said the galloper was unsuited to the tight Ipswich track and would be harder to beat next time out, which could be as soon as this Saturday if Waterhouse accepts them for the $200,000 Group 3 Carlton Draught Tattersall’s Cup (2200m).

The horses that finished three-four in the Ipswich Cup have also been nominated for the Tattersall’s Cup with Bruce Hill’s Gold coast galloper Warrior Within and the Barry Baldwin-trained four-year-old grey Mr Light Blue.

Another galloper coming via the Ipswich Cup is the Graeme Boyd-trained Kiwi Ginga Dude who ran a credible fifth, the veteran eight-year-old having earlier finished third to Lights Of Heaven in the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup (2200m) on a Heavy (8) Eagle Farm course.

Other notable Tattersall’s Cup nominees include in-form Ballarat galloper Hurdy Gurdy Man, Sydney Cup third placegetter Once Were Wild, and the Chris Waller-trained Wazn coming off a fourth in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2400m).

The official 2012 Tattersall’s Cup final field and barrier draw will be released on Wednesday and published right here at Races.com.au along with a detailed race preview.
