Caulfield Cup 2012 Odds – Futures Spring Betting

Australia’s leading online bookmakers are now offering generous futures markets on the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival majors including the 2012 Caulfield Cup which is set to run on Saturday October 20, 2012 at Caulfield Racecourse.

Mosheen

Four time Group 1 winner Mosheen is at juicy $17 odds in the futures 2012 Caulfield Cup betting markets

One of the richest and most prestigious races of the year the $2.5 million Group 1 BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) always attracts the top echelon of staying types and is the third richest race held during the spring.

In the Caulfield Cup odds at our preferred online bookie bookmaker.com.au Atlantic Jewel is the narrow $12 favourite.

Mark Kavanagh’s boom filly is undefeated in her incredible seven start career to date that includes two Group 1 titles in the 2011 Thousand Guineas and this year’s All Aged Stakes at Randwick on Sydney Cup Day.

Rested since her All Aged triumph the daughter of Fastnet Rock is being touted as the horse to beat in a number of the spring’s chief races including the Caulfield Cup and the $3 million Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) for which she is the dominant $4 bookmaker.com.au favourite.

Following Atlantic Jewel in the current futures Caulfield Cup 2012 betting markets are then:

  • Mawingo ($13) – Anthony Freedman’s top German import won the Doomben Cup at their third start down under before finishing third in the Brisbane Cup last time out
  • Green Moon ($15) – European import owned by Lloyd Williams, ran a brave second in the Caulfield Cup last year before missing out on a Melbourne Cup stint when finishing well back in the Lexus Stakes, won their sole autumn start in March when defeating Pied A Terre in the Blamey Stakes
  • Lucas Cranach ($15) – Another former German-trained galloper residing in Freedman’s Mornington stables, ran a slashing third in the Melbourne Cup last spring on the back of a Caulfield Cup fifth, took out the Peter Young Stakes at Caulfield on Blue Diamond Day before being sent back out to prepare for the spring
  • Mosheen ($17) – Robert Smerdon’s four time Group 1 winning filly last seen taking out the Australian Guineas – Randwick Guineas – Vinery Stud Stakes triple, also has Group 1 winning form over 2500-metres in last year’s Crown Oaks, juicy price

The only two other hopefuls under $20 in the latest markets are then two Peter Moody-trained duo of Brambles and Lights Of Heaven paying $19 each who won the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m) and Group 1 Brisbane Cup (2400m) respectively on Stradbroke Handicap Day last Saturday.
