Stradbroke Handicap Day 2012 – Eagle Farm Scratchings

An exciting eight card program is due to take place on Eagle Farm Racecourse’s 2012 Stradbroke Handicap Day today, with the first race due to jump at 12pm (AEST).

With Queensland’s biggest day of racing about to commence, there have been only minimal scratchings for the big four races of the day.

The most high profile scratching came yesterday in the Group 1 Queensland Derby, where Investwas withdrawn from the field.

Invest

Invest has been scratched from the 2012 Queensland Derby with a minor back injury.

The three-year-old filly has suffered from a back injury and will not line up in the race’s final field.

Invest won the Group 3 The Roses in May before finishing a disappointing 13th in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks last start.

Her scratching has allowed for Rock Of Gibraltar colt Rock The Pac to gain a start in the $500,000 race.

There have been no scratchings in the biggest race of the day, the $1 million Stradbroke Handicap 2012, leading to the scratchings of all five emergencies.

Despite trainer John O’Shea being unsure earlier in the week, he has decided to run hot favourite Sea Siren in today’s race.
