Lights Of Heaven Posts Brisbane Cup 2012 Win – Eagle Farm Results

Lights Of Heaven has won the 2012 Brisbane Cup at Eagle Farm Racecourse today, rounding out a perfect day for trainer Peter Moody.

The four-year-old mare claimed victory in front of Dance With Her, who placed second, and Mawingo, who held on for third.

Moody was visably elated after winning the 2012 Brisbane Cup with Lights Of Heaven, having already claimed wins in the Group 1 Queensland Derby and Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap.

“Wonderful positive ride by Luke (Nolen),” Moody said.

“He wanted to take the race by the scruff of the neck.

“He wanted to put her into the race and I wasn’t going to doubt him after his masterly ride in the Stradbroke.”

Moody also shed some light on the progress of Black Caviar since arriving in England for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23, 2012.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” he said.

“The great mare’s arrived in great shape so hopefully this is the start of a wonderful couple of weeks.

Jockey Luke Nolen produced a master ride to set Lights Of Heaven up for the win from her outside barrier of 16.

“She’s obviously advantaged a bit more from her last attempt at spring,” Nolen said.

“I think a mile and a half probably sees her out but she’s been excellent this whole prep.

“She’s resilient and she’s been well trained.”

Lights Of Heaven has won six of her 14 career race starts and has earned close to $1 million in prize money.
