Stradbroke Handicap 2012 Betting – Sea Siren Firming Favourite

Talented John O’Shea-trained filly Sea Siren has firmed to $4.40 following yesterday’s barrier draw announcement for the 2012 Stradbroke Handicap.

Sea Siren

Sea Siren is a firming favourite to win the Stradbroke Handicap

The Fastnet Rock three-year-old drew favourably in barrier six for her attempt to complete the third leg of the Brisbane sprint treble after winning the Group 1 BTC Cup and Doomben 10,000.

Queensland star Buffering already faced the task of carrying the top weight of 58kg but received a further blow when drawing barrier 18 and is now joined by Wealth Princess ($7.50) on the second line of betting at bookmaker.com.au.

Trained by Robert Heathcote, Buffering produced a courageous effort last start when returning from a stone bruise injury to finish within a neck of Sea Siren in the Doomben 10,000.

Joe Pride-trained sprinter Tiger Tees ($8.00) is next best in the betting market and will be out to record a third straight victory when stepping up to Group 1 level for the first time.

The Dubawi four-year-old led from start to finish in the Listed Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick in late April before taking out the Group 3 BRC Sprint at Doomben last month.

Tiger Tees has proven he can run all surfaces but his wet track from is particularly impressive and Pride has stated he would like to see a wet track to give his exciting speedster the best chance of claiming top honours in the $1 million feature.

One trainer who will be hoping the Eagle Farm track stays as dry as possible is Torio’s Quest ($10.00) trainer Brett Partelle.

The four-year-old gleding has had a limited preparation due to a number of wet track scratchings and was last seen running second in the Yarraman Park-Horsepower Handicap at Scone on May 18.

Emergency Mental is next best in the market at $11.00 but is unlikely to gain a start while Tony Gollan-trained pair Spirit Of Boom and Temple Of Boom are both at $17.00.

The Stradbroke Handicap stands as the most important event of the entire Brisbane Carnival and will jump as the seventh race on an action-packed Eagle Farm program this Saturday.

Markets are now available on the major Group 1 races at Eagle Farm this weekend so head to bookmaker.com.au to back a winner!
