Stradbroke Handicap 2012 Final Field – Sea Siren Draws Well

Stradbroke Handicap 2012 favourite Sea Siren has drawn barrier six for her attempt to complete the third leg of the Brisbane sprint treble after winning the Group 1 BTC Cup and Doomben 10,000.

A full field of 18 horses plus five emergencies has been named to contest the Group 1 $1 million feature which stands as the highlight event of the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Talented filly Sea Siren will have to break a weight-carrying record for three-year-old fillies when she carries 55kg into Saturday’s race but has a favourable barrier on her side unlike Queensland star Buffering.

The Doomben 10,000 runner-up has reportedly returned to full fitness following the stone bruise injury that saw him miss work in the 10,000 lead-up but will have to overcome a wide barrier 18 draw.

Trained by Robert Heathcote, Buffering is still chasing an elusive first Group 1 victory after placing behind Black Caviar and Hay List on a number of occasions.

Also drawing well is promising four-year-old Tiger Tees who will charge out of the gates from barrier 11.

The Joe Pride-trained sprinter has gained a repuation before being able to set a strong early pace and comes into the race on the back of a gritty victory in the Group 3 BRC Sprint.

Tiger Tees will come from one barrier inside Wealth Princess who made a promising return from a two-year injury break when winning the Glenlogan Park Stakes earlier this month.

Tony Gollan-trained Galaxy winner Temple Of Boom drew well in barrier five while half brother Spirit Of Boom will come from barrier 14.
