Sizzling Heads 2012 TJ Smith Field

Talented colt Sizzling headlines a 13-horse field for Saturday’s Group 1 $500,000 2012 TJ Smith (1600m) at Eagle Farm.

Sizzling

Sizzling is the horse to beat in Saturday's Group 1 TJ Smith

The Kelso Wood-trained two-year-old will be chasing a fourth straight victory after a dominant display of racing so far in the Queensland Winter Carnival.

The only hiccup came in the Group 2 Champagne Classic at Doomben on May 19 when he got a long way back as they hit the final straight but showed a remarkable turn of foot to storm home and take victory by a head.

A son of Snitzel, the exciting youngster will run from barrier three this weekend as he attempts to add a fifth victory to his resume in just his eighth career start.

One contender who could cause the favourite some problems is promising colt Boban who showed impressive acceleration last start to win the Phoenix by 2 ½ lengths.

The Anthony Freedman-trained youngster had previously had trouble switching off but responded well to Hugh Bowman who held him at the back of the field before exploding down the outside at the straight.

Peter Snowden-trained gelding Academus gets a chance to exact revenge on Sizzling this weekend after finishing second behind the star youngster in his last two starts.

The son of Lonhro also finished second in his only other ever start and will run from barrier six with Kerrin McEvoy on board this weekend.

Another horse to place regularly behind Sizzling is Dances On Stars who finished runner-up in the Ken Russell Memorial Classic before running third in his last two starts.

Also included in the final field for Saturday’s two-year-old feature is Hampden Stakes winner Noogoora Burr, New Zealand colt Choice Bro and unbeaten colt Ninth Legion.

The TJ Smith takes place as part of an action-packed Saturday program at Eagle Farm and bookmaker.com.au will have great value odds on all the major races.
