Lancaster Stakes 2012 – Nominations

A bumper day of racing will take place at Eagle Farm this Saturday and one of the events on the eight-race program is the Listed $100,000 2012 Lancaster Stakes.

Twenty two juvenile fillies have been nominated for the 1200-metre sprint including John O’Shea-trained Hoss Amor.

The promising daughter of General Nediym has signalled plenty of potential this preparation with consecutive runner-up finishes in the Listed Hampden Stakes and the Phoenix.

She was originally being targeted for the Group 1 TJ Smith but will instead line up against her own sex in a field that will also include Saturn Rock.

The Shaune Ritchie-trained daughter of Fastnet Rock struggled last start when seventh in the Phoenix but prior to that had been impressive in her opening four career starts.

She won once and placed twice in New Zealand before arriving in Brisbane and opened her campaign with a third-place effort in the Hampden Stakes.

One horse heading into the race in tremendous form is Rodney Northam-trained Tinszelda who will be stepping up to Listed level for the first time.

The daughter of Snitzel has been dominant in three undefeated starts to date, with her smallest winning margin so far 1 1/2 lengths on debut at Scone.

She is joined in nominations by Kelly Schweida-trained filly Discreet who has one win and two placings from six starts and has already collected more than $100,000 in prize money.

Other horses nominated for the Lancaster Stakes include last-start winners Mafia Princess and Centrepet and John Thompson-trained pair Scarlet Tanager and Sookie.

The Lancaster Stakes form part of an exciting Eagle Farm Card that also includes the Group 1 TJ Smith for two-year-olds, the Queensland Derby, the Brisbane Cup and the $1 million Stradbroke Handicap.

When the markets open on all the Eagle Farm action later this week the best value odds will be found at
