Lights Of Heaven Headlines 2012 Brisbane Cup Nominations

Lights Of Heaven is amongst 28 nominations for the Group 2 Brisbane Cup at Eagle Farm Racecourse this Saturday June 9, 2012.

The four-year-old mare won her most recent start in the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup in Brisbane last weekend.

Lights Of Heaven posted a convincing three length victory over Scenic Shot, who finished second, and third place-getter Ginga Dude in the race.

Lights Of Heaven

Lights Of Heaven is nominated for the 2012 Brisbane Cup at Eagle Farm this Saturday.

The Zabeel mare was overdue for a race win after posting close seconds in her two previous starts in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes and Group 1 Doomben Cup.

Lights Of Heaven has won five of her 13 race starts and has earned more than $775,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

Trainer Peter Moody is now looking to aim Lights Of Heaven towards a Cups campaign this spring after her 2012 Brisbane Cup run this weekend.

The mare was targeted towards the 2012 Caulfield Cup last spring after she won her first four starts, which included the Group 1 Schweppes Oaks.

However, Lights Of Heaven failed to win any of her five campaign starts.

“I probably started believing all the press about her but she just wasn’t ready for that sort of a campaign at the time,” Moody said.

Also included in the 2012 Brisbane Cup 2012 nominations is Fruehling, who will be having his fifth Australian start in the race.

The four-year-old entire, who is a half-brother to Glass Harmonium, was purchased in late 2011 after having just three starts in England.

Fruehling will be lining up against Group competition for the first time in the 2012 Brisbane Cup.

Absolutely and Mawingo are also included in the 2012 Brisbane Cup nominations.
