2012 Eagle Farm Cup Betting – Lights Of Heaven Favourite

Peter Moody-trained mare Lights Of Heaven looks set to shine in Saturday’s Group 2 $250,000 2012 Eagle Farm Cup (2200m).

Lights Of Heaven

Lights Of Heaven is the Eagle Farm Cup favourite

The four-year-old is currently a $2.00 favourite at bookmaker.com.au and comes into the race with plenty of form behind her.

A daughter of Zabeel, Lights Of Heaven has performed tremendously in her last two starts when finishing as a close runner-up in both the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes and the Group 1 Doomben Cup.

Her main rival on Saturday will be the horse that beat her by a bob of the head in the Hollindale Stakes, New Zealand mare Shez Sinsational ($4.40).

The talented Ekraar mare has drawn well in barrier four and the only hiccup she has had recently came in the form of a Doomben Cup seventh when she drew a wide barrier.

Prior to that, the talented four-year-old had recorded three straight victories including the Group 1 Auckland Cup.

The Allan Sharrock-trained horse is no stranger to the Eagle Farm track, having placed in both the Queensland Oaks and Derby last year.

Next best in the betting is two-time Doomben Cup winner Scenic Shot ($6.00) who finished fourth in this year’s event.

The experienced gelding has not won since he took out the 2011 Doomben Cup but boasts 17 career victories and a prize pool of more than $3 million.

The only other horse to fall under double figures is Tim Martin-trained Fibrillation ($9.00) who finished fifth in the Doomben Cup on the back of some excellent Sydney form.

A daughter of Diatribe, the four-year-old mare won the Aspiration Quality and Epona Stakes before finishing second in the Emancipation Stakes at the Sydney Autumn Carnival.

Other horses set to line up in the Eagle Farm Cup this weekend include experienced gelding Ginga Dude ($12.00), former Doncaster winner Triple Honour ($15.00) and New Zealand gelding Booming ($41.00).

Think it will be Lights Of Heaven? Or fancy one of the other chances? Whoever you are backing, be sure to visit bookmaker.com.au to get access to the best odds.
