2012 Dane Ripper Stakes Betting – Wealth Princess Favourite

Lightly-raced six-year-old Wealth Princess will start as favourite as she continues her return from injury in the 2012 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Wealth Princess

Talented mare Wealth Princess is favourite to win the Dane Ripper Stakes

The Darren Weir-trained mare was impressive in just her second start back from a tendon injury when winning the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes following a 97-week absence from racing.

Despite being six-years-old, the injury has meant the daughter of St Luis has raced just 13 times and she boasts an impressive record of seven wins and five place-finishes.

She is currently paying $3.80 to win Saturday’s $200,000 event with Chris Waller-trained mare Red Tracer ($5.00) the next best in the betting.

The Dane Shadow four-year-old will appreciate the drop back in class after struggling in two Group 1 races at the Sydney Autumn Carnival after previously impressing with a 2 1/2 length win in the Group 3 Millie Fox Stakes.

If the rain falls as expected in Brisbane this weekend, this will play into Red Tracer’s favour as she has won all four of her starts on slow or heavy tracks.

She will be ridden by experienced Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman and holds claim to an excellent career record of seven wins from 17 starts and a prize pool of more than $530,000.

Just behind Red Tracer in the betting is Michael Moroney-trained mare Bonnie Mac ($5.50) who is stepping up in class to chase a sixth consecutive victory.

The only race the daughter of Thorn Park has not won was her debut at Matamata last year but since then has been a dominant force.

She was most recently seen winning the Listed Miss Proud Stakes at Morphetville by 1 1/5 lengths and has drawn well in barrier five for her first Group level test.

Other horses set to line up in the Dane Ripper Stakes include Commands mare Forfeiture ($10.00),  John Thompson-trained four-year-old Potions ($12.00) and last-start winner Upon This Rock ($13.00).

The Dane Ripper Stakes is one of five Group 2 races on an action-packed Eagle Farm card that is headed by the Group 1 Queensland Oaks.
