Eagle Farm Cup 2012 – Nominations Announced

Mawingo will look to increase his winning streak if he lines up for the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup at Eagle Farm this Saturday June 2, 2012.

The Tertullian entire won his last start in the Group 1 Doomben Cupon May 19, 2012.

Mawingo (left) and Lights Of Heaven (right) are both included in the 2012 Eagle Farm Cup nominations.

It was the first Group 1 win for Mawingo, who was purchased from Germany earlier this year.

Mawingo has won two of his three starts since arriving in Australia and has won close to $400,000 in prize money.

His only defeat came when third behind Shez Sinsational and Lights Of Heaven at the Gold Coast on May 5, 2012.

Despite being nominated for the 2012 Eagle Farm Cup, trainer Anthony Freedman has revealed it is unlikely he will run in the race.

Mawingo will instead likely be saved for the Group 2 Brisbane Cup on June 9, 2012, at Eagle Farm Racecourse.

“He’s not a horse who carries a lot of condition. At this stage I don’t think he needs another run to be at his best for the Brisbane Cup,” Freedman said.

Lights Of Heaven is also included in the 2012 Eagle Farm Cup nominations after running close seconds in her past two race starts.

The four-year-old placed second in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes by a nose two starts back before posting another quick second to Mawingo in the Group 1 Doomben Cup last start.

The Zabeel mare has won four of her 12 race starts and has earned more than $615,000 in prize money during her career.

Fibrillation and Scenic Shot are also included in the 2012 Eagle Farm Cup nominations.
