With the Group 1 2012 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) not too far away there has been plenty of movement in the betting market for what is set to be a bumper affair.
After shortening to as little as $4.00 at bookmaker.com.au yesterday, race favourite Sea Siren is back out to $4.60 as she attempts to repeat her impressive win in the BTC Cup.
No filly has won the race since its commencement in 1933 and it would be a remarkable effort if the up-and-coming star was able to achieve the feat.
Second favourite Pampelonne has also drifted from $4.80 to $5.00 while Queensland sprinter Buffering is the market mover and has come in from $7.00 to $6.00.
The move is likely to have occurred after Racing Queensland vets confirmed this morning the Robert Heathcote-gelding was fit to race after recovering from the stone bruise injury that saw him miss the BTC Cup.
Buffering was set to start as a short-priced favourite in the BTC Cup before being cruelled by the injury the day before the race and is still chasing an elusive Group 1 victory after placing behind Black Caviar and Hay List on a number of occasions.
Following the top three elects in the betting is Peter Moody-trained Mid Summer Music ($9.00) who has also placed behind some big names in recent times including Black Caviar and Atlantic Jewel.
Last year’s winner Beaded may have yet to show her best form this year but provides value for the punters at $14.00 and is joined on the fifth line of betting by BTC Cup runner-up Scenic Blast.
Also providing value at over double figures is Oakleigh Plater winner Woorim ($15.00), Galaxy winner Temple Of Boom ($16.00) and Joe Pride-trained Ladys Angel ($31.00).
