Beaded’s Back-To-Back Chance in 2012 Doomben 10,000

Peter Snowden-trained mare Beaded will head into Saturday’s Group 1 $650,000 2012 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) with excellent preparation under her belt as she attempts to score a second win in the feature sprint.

Beaded is in good condition ahead of the Doomben 10,000

Snowden threatened to retire the six-year-old earlier this year after two out of character failures in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap and the William Reid Stakes but gave her a reprieve after showing promising signs in the lead up to the BTC Cup.

She repaid the trainer’s faith by running strongly to finish third in the BTC Cup and Snowden is confident she will produce an improved showing this weekend.

Snowden said the Lohnro mare looks in great condition and believes she will head into the race at the top of her game after impressing during trackwork on Tuesday.

“Beaded looks great. Her work on Tuesday was very good and I can’t fault her,” he said.

“She is a great trier. I haven’t trained any who try harder than her and if she can show her best form, then I’m sure she will be hard to beat.”

The winner of 10 of 26 starts has not scored victory since she won the Doomben 10,000 last year when she had a tremendous Brisbane winter campaign.

Following the Group 1 win she was beaten by a head in the Stradbroke Handicap and again narrowly finished second in the Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara.

The Tatt’s Tiara has been earmarked by Snowden as the final event for the winner of more than $1.6 million in prize money and will take place on June 23.

To claim a second Doomben 10,000 title will be no easy feat for Beaded with a classy 16-horse field yesterday named to contest the event.

The early favourite is BTC Cup winner Sea Siren ($4.20) who sits just ahead of fellow exciting three-year-old Pampelonne ($4.80).

Returning from injury is Queensland star Buffering ($7.00) while Peter Moody-trained mare Mid Summer Music ($9.00) is the only other runner to fall under double figures.

Beaded is providing plenty of value for the punters at $14.00 as is Tony Gollan-trained Galaxy Winner Temple Of Boom ($16.00).

The full Doomben 10,000 market is now up so head to to back a winner!
