2012 Doomben 10,000 Likely for Beaded

Peter Snowden-trained mare Beaded is likely to be given the opportunity to defend her Doomben 10,000 title in this Saturday’s Group 1 $650,000 feature event.

2011 champion Beaded is likely to run in Saturday's Doomben 10,000

The Lohnro six-year-old will be retired following the Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara on June 23 and trainer Snowden said there is no reason as to why she won’t run on Saturday.

“It’s four weeks away to the Tatt’s Tiara which is her last run and it’s just a matter of finding the right race for her,” he said.

Snowden threatened to retire the winner of more than $1.6 million in prize money following two failed autumn starts in Melbourne but was happy with her lead-up work before the BTC Cup.

While not at her outstanding best, the successful mare produced a solid effort to finish third behind Sea Siren and Scenic Blast.

Snowden was happy with the BTC Cup run and said he expects an improved effort if she lines up in Saturday’s Group 1 feature.

“Her coat is good and her work this morning was sharp,” he said.

Beaded has experienced plenty of success in Brisbane in the past and had a career best campaign last year that was highlighted by the Doomben 10,000 victory.

Following the Doomben 10,000 she finished runner-up to Sincero in the prestigious Group 1 $1 million Stradbroke Handicap and again ran second in the Tatt’s Tiara.

The talented mare is currently rated a $9.00 chance at bookmaker.com.au to win the Doomben 10,000 behind favourite Sea Siren ($4.00), Buffering ($6.50) and rising star Pampelonne ($8.00).

Queensland sprinter Buffering trained strongly yesterday in front of trainer Robert Heathcote yesterday and will be out to avenge last year’s result where he finished at the back of the field.

Other horses set to line up in the Doomben 10,000 include Tony Gollan-trained pair Spirit Of Boom and Temple Of Boom, three-time Group 1 winner Scenic Blast and Oakleigh Plate winner Woorim.

The early Doomben Cup market is now available so head to bookmaker.com.au to back a winner.
