Emirates Stakes 2012 Target for Playing God

Ascot horseman Neville Parnham is considering a 2012 Emirates Stakes start for his smart stallion Playing God during the upcoming Melbourne Cup Carnival at the famous Flemington.

Playing God

Dual Kingston Town Classic winner Playing God could run in the 2012 Emirates Stakes this Melbourne Cup Carnival

Blackfriars four-year-old Playing God could use the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) on Thursday November 8 as a catalyst into the Perth Summer Racing Carnival where they would vie for their third straight win in the $500,000 Group 1 Kingstown Town Classic (1800m).

No stranger to racing in Melbourne Playing God debuted there in March last year when running third in both the Australian Guineas and Australian Cup.

They were bought back over for last year’s Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival running a good fourth in the Group 2 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) in September before contesting four Group 1 features on the trot.

Their best result was a third to one time Caulfield Cup fancy December Draw in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m), their spring campaign culminating with a disappointing 11th to the ill-fated Pinker Pinker in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley.

Travelling back home to Ascot Playing God then ran a substandard 14th to Luckygray in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) in November before bouncing back to win their second Kingstown Town Classic on the trot.

Returning in the autumn in Melbourne Playing God raced three times including their brave first-up third behind super mare Black Caviar and Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m).

Last seen running sixth to Peter Moody’s ace import Manighar in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 10, plans are now underway for Playing God’s spring preparation.

“I need to talk it through with (owner) Colin (Loxton) which way we go,” Parnham said.
