Glenlogan Park Stakes 2012 – Final Field and Barrier Draw

The Brisbane Winter Carnival is now underway and Saturday will see another bumper eight-race card take place at Doomben Racecourse that includes the Group 3 $150,000 2012 Glenlogan Park Stakes.

Fifteen horses were today named in the final field including New Zealand mare Wealth Princess who returns to try and add another Glenlogan Parks Stakes title to her resume after winning the event in 2010.

The Darren Weir-trained six-year-old has only had one start since her successful 2010 winter carnival but immediately produced when finishing runner-up in the Wangoom Handicap at Warrnambool earlier this month.

She has drawn a favourable barrier four position which is far better than one of her main rivals Parables who will start from the outside (15).

It marks a massive blow for the Peter Snowden-trained mare who had been building nicely to return to the form that has seen her win twice at Group level after finishing just outside the placings on three occasions this year.

Brisbane-based mare Funtantes shares the top weight of 58.5kg with Wealth Princess and Parables and gets a chance to bounce back on what is expected to be a dry Doomben track after struggling in the wet at the Gold Coast last start.

Carrying the minimum weight of 54kg is promising John O’Shea-trained filly Bound To Blush who has been in excellent form this year.

The daughter of Strategic won first-up at Canterbury and apart form a seventh-place hiccup in the PJ Bell Stakes has produced solid runs to place in the both the Listed HB Carr Stakes and the Hawkesbury Guineas.

In-form four-year-old Risk Aversion has drawn well in barrier seven and will be ridden by experienced Queensland jockey Chris Munce.

The Michael Lakey-trained mare won her last four starts of 2011 and the form has continued in 2012, placing in her first two efforts before taking top honours last start in the Listed Juanmo Stakes.

Other horses set to line up in the Glenlogan Park Stakes include talented Gold Coast-based mare Alltherightmoves and Peter Snowden-trained Forfeiture.
