Black Caviar Celebrates 21st Win – The Goodwood 2012

Super mare Black Caviar has done as expected and taken her unbeaten streak to 21 victories, cruising to a comfortable 1 ½ length victory in the Group 1 2012 Goodwood (1200m) at Morphetville today.

A sell-out crowd of 30,000 people flocked to the Adelaide track to see the world’s best sprinter and she didn’t disappoint, proving far too strong for her eight rivals.

The superstar pushed to the front early and with regular jockey Luke Nolen on board always looked to have the race in control.

Nolen allowed the mare to relax in the final straight as she cantered to an easy win ahead of We’re Gonna Rock and Stirling Grove.

Trainer Peter Moody was happy with the performance and said she was on-song for an overseas tilt at the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23.

“I think she’s run a slightly quicker time than she did the other day, she’s in good shape. As long as she pulls up well we’ll be happy.” Moody said.

“Everything has gone as expected. She’s done a good job, she’s where we want her.

“As long as he pleases us in the next three weeks we’re on a plane to England.”

There has been plenty of doubt within overseas media about the champion and Moody has sent a strong message to her potential rivals.

“You’ve got an excitement machine coming your way,” Moody said.

“I know tomorrow there will be the naysayers saying she’s beaten We’re Gonna Rock by a length and a half but I’m happy, we’re happy.”

Jockey Nolen had not planned for the cruisy finish but was happy with how she was travelling so allowed her to relax.

“Arm chair easy it was, we were never out of second gear,” Nolen said.

“No plan, she travelled strongly, [so] I kept her happy, simple as that.”

The daughter of Bel Esprit’s amazing record now includes 11 Group 1 victories and she has collected more than $5.7 million in prize money.
