Black Caviar Betting Update – The Goodwood 2012

Super mare Black Caviar will assume her usual position as odds-on favourite when she lines up in Saturday’s 2012 Goodwood (1200m) at Adelaide’s Morphetville Racecourse.

Black Caviar will assume her regular position as short-price favourite Saturday's Group 1 Goodwood

The world’s best sprinter is currently paying $1.04 (bookmaker.com.au) to take out the $500,000 Group 1 event with four horses sharing equal second spot at $31.00.

Mark Kavanagh-trained pair We’re Gonna Rock and Catapulted are joined by Centrebet Classic winner Go The Knuckle and Richard Jolly-trained gelding on the second line of betting.

Black Caviar underwent her final pre-race hit-out yesterday and trainer Peter Moody confirmed she is in prime condition heading towards Saturday and then June’s Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot.

Moody said he was amazed at the ease of which she got through the work out in which she ran the final 400 metres in 22.6 seconds.

If she does as expected on Saturday and takes out the Morphetville feature, it will take her remarkable unbeaten streak to 21 straight victories and her prize takings to more than $5.7 million.

It will also be an astonishing 11th Group 1 victory, coming just 18 months after she scored her first elite level win in the Patinack Farm Classic in November 2010.

The Helsinge five-year-old will again draw a sell-out 30,000 strong crowd to the Adelaide track after she turned on a show two Saturdays ago when winning by 4 ½ lengths to claim an Australasian record for consecutive wins in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes.

Moody’s stable jockey Luke Nolen has ridden the champion in all but three of her career starts and he will again be in the saddle when she lines up in barrier eight on Saturday.

Despite race conditions allowing for a 20-horse field, most have been scared off by the super horse and she will line up against just eight rivals.

Outside the second four in the betting is DC Mackay Stakes winner Outlandish Lad ($41.00), David Jolly-trained Streetcar Magic ($81.00), Stanzout ($201.00) and Weholdtheface paying a massive $501.00.

Black Caviar may not be much of a betting proposition this weekend but there is plenty of other great racing, so head to bookmaker.com.au to back a winner.
