Another Morphetville Sell-Out for Black Caviar – The Goodwood 2012

Just two weeks after selling out Morphetville Racecourse for her Australasian record-breaking win in the Robert Sangster Stakes, champion mare Black Caviar will again bring a capacity 30,000 strong crowd to the Adelaide track.

Black Caviar will again sell out Morphetville Racecourse this Saturday

The world’s best sprinter has opened as $1.04 favourite at bookmaker.com.au to take out the Group 1 $500,000 2012 Goodwood (1200m) in what is likely to become her 21st consecutive victory.

So much of a big deal is the wonder mare, she has forced the AFL to adjust their scheduling of the Adelaide-Geelong fixture to start earlier at 12:45pm (Adelaide time) to allow punters to still see Black Caviar in action at 4:20pm.

Following Peter Moody’s confirmation yesterday morning that the 10-time Group 1 winning mare would definitely start on Saturday, the vast majority of the remaining few thousand tickets were snapped up in quick fashion.

Punters have turned to the internet to purchase tickets in what will be the the superstar’s final hit-out before heading overseas to tackle the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot.

Trainer Moody said yesterday the five-year-old passed her final pre-race run with flying colours and is confident there will be no hiccups this weekend.

The conditions of the Goodwood allow for 20 starters but the fact the race, barring some sort of miracle, remains virtually unwinnable has scared the competition off and just eight rivals will line up against the legendary sprinter.

Not one Group 1 winner has been entered and the four best chances according to the betting market sit way back at $31.00.

Headlining the best of the rest are Mark Kavanagh-trained pair We’re Gonna Rock and Catapulted.

A son of Fastnet Rock, We’re Gonna Rock finished sixth to fellow Goodwood starter Outlandish Lad last start in the DC MCKay Stakes but prior to that scored two straight wins including the Group 3 RN Irwin Stakes.
