2012 The Jansz Final Field & Barrier Draw – The Goodwood Day

Kicking off The Goodwood Day at Morphettville Racecourse on Saturday is The Jansz National Stakes 2012, the juvenile’s feature shaping up as an exciting showdown between a number of up-and-coming two-year-olds.

Running as Morphettville Race 1 at 12:30pm the $115,000 Listed The Jansz (1200m) has attracted a final field of nine hopefuls with a $30,000 SABOIS bonus on offer to qualified horses.

Set to wear the No. 1 saddlecloth on Saturday is the Mark Kavanagh-trained Beau Jez.

Drawn ideally in gate three with Michael Rodd riding the Beautiful Crown gelding is looking to break their maiden status after kicking their career off with two close seconds at Morphettville.

The two horses that have won the races Beau Jez has placed second in are both also engaged for The Jansz on Saturday.

Firstly there is Stella Lante, John Hyam’s promising Starcraft filly having won on debut on April 14 before her close third to Dashitude in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1100m) two weeks later.

On Saturday Stella Lante will jump from barrier eight with regular rider Troy Baker retaining the mount.

Hyam will also be represented in The Jansz field this year by King Valentine in barrier four and debutant Miss De Pature in six.

The other is then Star Of Zena who has come up trumps in The Jansz barrier draw with the inside alley.

To be ridden by Adrian Patterson the Roslyn Day-trained Al Maher filly debuted last Saturday to win over 1050m from barrier nine of 12.

Dequetteville Stakes winner Dashitude meanwhile is likely to open favourite in The Jansz odds at bookmaker.com.au.

Chris Bieg’s smart local Dash For Cash filly has had five starts leading up for Saturday, the now stakes winning youngster a bargain buy for just $5,500 at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sales last year.

Dashitude also boasts an interstate victory at Caulfield two back before she travelled home to win the Dequetteville which boosted her career earnings to over $205,000.

Amy Herrmann has ridden Dashitude for her two most recent runs, as well as her big six length debut last November, and will be in the saddle again this weekend from barrier five.

Dequetteville runner-up Dinkum Diamond also backs up on Saturday, the Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas-trained Keep The Faith filly coming up with the far outside barrier.

Completing the 2012 The Jansz National Stakes field is the Chris Hyland-trained Excellent Art filly She’s A Monet in gate two, and Anthony Freedman’s Mornington raider Papillon.

Papillon has drawn gate seven with Vlad Duric riding and is coming off a Sandwon win on debut carrying 59kg – she drops back to 54kg on Saturday.
