Waterhouse Pair Head Betting – 2012 Rowley Mile

In-form Gai Waterhouse pair Fast Clip and Western Symbol are the two early favourites ahead of Saturday’s feature 2012 Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury Racecourse.

Fast Clip

Fast Clip is favourite to take out Saturday's Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury

Fresh off a Doncaster fifth-place effort, Fast Clip starts as the early $3.20 bookmaker.com.au favourite and will benefit from having Waterhouse’s star stable jockey Nash Rawiller on board when he runs from barrier two.

It means Blake Shinn has acquired the ride on Western Symbol who is chasing a fourth straight victory after producing impressive wins in recent times including the Group 3 HKJC Stakes and the Listed JRA Plate.

A son of High Chapparral, Western Symbol is paying $4.80 to continue his sizzling run of form and will be running from the plum barrier five position.

Just behind the in-form Waterhouse horse are Alma’s Fury and Star Of Octagonal who are both paying $5.00.

Todd Howlett-trained Star Of Octagonal has been a picture of consistency so far in 2012, winning once and placing on four other occasions from five starts.

A son of New Zealand champion Octagonal, the five-year-old has not raced in more than a month after last being seen running second to Niagara in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes.

Alma’s Fury is also coming into the race with good form behind him, finishing third in both the Ajax Stakes and the Doncaster Prelude in his last two starts.

Peter Snowden-trained mare Raspberries ($10.00) has the opportunity to bounce back from a disappointing eighth in the Doncaster Prelude after previously impressing with a dominant win in the Group 3 PFD Food Services Stakes and a third-place effort in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes.

Just behind her in the betting is Chris Waller-trained five-year-old Wazn who will be running for the first time since winning the Australia Day Cup at Warwick Farm on January 26.

To see the full Rowley Mile market and back a winner, be sure to head to Races.com.au preferred bookie – bookmaker.com.au.
