Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
With the Sydney Autumn Carnival coming to a close last weekend, the racing attention turns it attention elsewhere this Saturday and one of the feature races is the Listed $150,000 2012 Darley Crown at Hawkesbury.
Run as the fifth event on an eight-race card, the Darley Crown will test a decent field of 10 horses over 1300 metres and the betting market is currently wide open.
Ladys Angel is currently slight favourite to win the female only event, paying $5.50 at bookmaker.com.au after producing consistent results of late.
The Arena mare ran third to Atlantic Jewel in the Sapphire Stakes and most recently finished third in the Group 1 Galaxy to Temple Of Boom.
If it rains as forecasted on Saturday, the five-year-old becomes a great betting proposition after producing three wins and two runner-up finishes on heavy tracks.
Following her closely in the betting is Peter Snowden-trained mare Screen ($6.50) who is resuming following a spell but has a great first-up record.
The Lohnro mare has won three times from four first-up efforts and has a career record of seven wins from 21 starts.
Behind the twp two in the betting a host of horses have settled between just under double figures with Dystopia and Parables the next best at $8.00.
Chris Waller-trained Dystopia is resuming after a brief spell following a disappointing 13th in the Wenona Girl Quality but prior to that experienced success with back-to-back wins in the Schweppes Handicap at Warwick Farm and the Listed Triscay Stakes at Rosehill.
Lohnro mare Parables is fresh off a fourth-place effort in the Sapphire Stakes but she may not line up at Hawkesbury this weekend after also being named in the final field for the Prime Minister’s Cup on the Gold Coast.
Providing plenty of value for the punters is Rose Of Peace at $26.00 who is coming off a sixth-place effort in the Sapphire Stakes but signalled her potential the start before when winning the Wenona Girl Quality.
Also in the Darley Crown are Gai Waterhouse-trained More Strawberries ($9.00), Redoute’s Choice mare Pontiana ($9.00) and the in form Forfeiture ($9.50).
