Dance With Her Wins 2012 Warrnambool Cup

Dance With Her has produced a strong finish to take top honours in today’s Listed $200,000 2012 Warrnambool Cup (2350m).

Returning from a failed metropolitan expedition, the Al Maher mare picked up where she left off in regional Victoria after previously producing victories in Bendigo’s Golden Mile as well as the Pakenham Cup.

Ridden by Steven Arnold, the five-year-old got into a good position early, sitting mid-field as The Black Oak charged to the lead and set a good tempo for the 16-horse field.

As the field came hard at The Black Oak as they approached the final bend, Arnold peeled to the outside with Dance With Her who showed a good turn of foot to race away and claim top billings.

It takes the David Brideoak and David Feek-trained mare’s career record to ten wins from 37 starts and her overall prize takings to more than $480,000.

Michael Kent-trained Domesky was ridden well by Brad Rawiller and got in a great position but was unable to finish off the race and had to settle with second.

Hurdy Gurdy Man produced a gallant effort to chase down the front runners and was rewarded with third place while heavily backed race favourite Mr O’Ceirin finished fourth after settling into a nice position for most of the race.

Today marks the end of a bumper three days of racing in Warrnambool that have featured a number of highlights including Black and Bent’s ninth straight jumps victory in yesterday’s Galleywood Hurdle.

It was the second Galleywood title in three years for Robert Smerdon-trained gelding who has won 12 from 18 jumps events he has contested.

It has been a big week for country racing and it continues into tomorrow with the Wagga Wagga Cup which will feature Gai Waterhouse-trained Rain Drum and Dubbo Cup winner Southern Shimmer.

The full betting market is now available at for all of tomorrow’s feature events at Wagga.
