Hawkesbury Guineas Field 2012 Headed by Landing

Dominant Gai Waterhouse-trained gelding Landing will be out to continue his unbeaten run this Saturday when contesting the 2012 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m).

Landing will attempt to continute his unbeaten run in Saturday's Hawkesbury Guineas

The talented son of More Than Ready may have only had four career starts but he has destroyed all comers with victories by large margins.

Last seen winning by 1.8 lengths in the Listed South Pacific Classic, Landing has drawn barrier seven for Saturday’s $150,000 race in which he will face 10 rivals.

Drawing the outside is Ad Valorem gelding Pied A Terre who has also shown plenty of promise in his young career, winning four of seven starts and placing on two other occasions.

Trained by Peter Snowden, the three-year-old’s only failure came last start when he finished eighth in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes and he will carry the top weight of 59kg along with fellow Snowden horse Free Wheeling.

Also a son of Ad Valorem, Free Wheeling has experienced mixed results in his young career so far and is coming off a fourth-place effort in the Phar Lap Stakes.

Promisng Kris Lees-trained colt Uate will continue his search to regain his early career form after a disappointing spring campaign.

The talented youngster began his 2012 campaign in solid fashion with a runner-up effort in the Maurice McCarten Stakes but struggled in the wet next start when finishing 10th in the Gosford Guineas.

Whether or not Uate actually lines up in Hawkesbury on Saturday is still to be decided as he has also been named in the Gold Coast Guineas field and it is likely trainer Lees will go wherever the weather is best as Uate has shown numerous occasions he struggles in the wet.

Drawing a plum barrier (5) is Chris Waller-trained Sacred Pins who has won three of five starts and would had four if he hadn’t come up against a red-hot Landing last start in the South Pacific Classic.

He gets a chance to exact some revenge on the unbeaten youngster this weekend in what is one of three feature events at Hawkesbury.
