Darley Crown 2012 – Final Field and Barrier Draw

Fourteen fillies and mares have today been named in the final field for Saturday’s Listed 2012 Darley Crown (1300m) which is one of three features to take place this weekend at Hawkesbury Racecourse.

Arena mare Ladys Angel gets the chance to build on her promising 2012 campaign which has seen her place three times from five outings including a third-place effort in the Group 1 Galaxy last start.

Trained by Joseph Pride, the five-year-old has drawn barrier nine and will be ridden by Jay Ford in a race that contains plenty of quality.

Included in that is More Than Ready mare More Strawberries who will carry the top weight of 59kg along with the Peter Snowden-trained Parables.

Trained by the prolific Gai Waterhouse, More Strawberries will need to bounce back from her most recent form if she is to feature among the front runners after finishing a disappointing seventh in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes.

Lonhro mare Parables showed improvement on her first-up Maurice McCarten Stakes fifth when running fourth in the Sapphire Stakes and will be looking to record her first victory in more than 13 months.

Gary Portelli-trained mare Rose Of Peace ran sixth in the Sapphire Stakes but has experienced some success in recent times, winning the Listed Wenona Girl Quality the start before.

The Darley Crown is part of a quality day of racing action at Hawkesbury this Saturday in what is the main meeting in New South Wales.

Highlighting the day is the Hawkesbury Guineas that will see the undefeated Landing taking on a host of talented three-year-olds and the Rowley Mile which is headlined by Gai Waterhouse-trained pair Western Symbol and Fast Clip.

The Hakwesbury betting action will open shortly and the best place to back your winners is at bookmaker.com.au.
