Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
A talented group of 27 fillies and mares have been nominated for the 2012 Darley Crown (1300m) which will take place at Hawkesbury this Saturday.
The list will be reduced to 16 horses when the final field is named tomorrow but one horse who will be there, provided trainer Joseph Pride accepts, is Ladys Angel.
The promising five-year-old has been dual nominated for the Silk Stocking on the Gold Coast but should feature near the front no matter where Pride chooses to run her after a solid Sydney carnival.
A daughter of Arena, she produced three placings from five starts including a third-place effort in the Group 1 Galaxy last start.
She is joined in nominations by Lohnro mare Parables who was last seen running fourth to Atlantic Jewel in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes.
The Peter Snowden-trained four-year-old is a two-time Group level winner but is also no certainty to line up after also being nominated for Gold Coast events ahead of the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Colorado Claire is fresh after a brief spell following her Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes win but she is unlikely to run with her sensational first-up record likely to see her saved for the more lucrative Scone Guineas.
Leading Sydney trainers Gai Waterhouse and Chris Waller each have one nominated entrant after both experiencing successful Sydney carnivals.
Waterhouse’s More Strawberries has been allocated the top weight of 59kg along with Parables despite a short and disappointing autumn.
The More Than Ready mare had just one start in the Sydney Carnival where she finished seventh in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes.
Waller-trained mare Dystopia is returning from a disappointing 13th last start after previously impressing with back-to-back victories.
The Darley Crown is the second feature event on the Hawkesbury card that also includes the $150,000 Hawkesbury Guineas.
